The beautiful village of Patrington is only a 20 minute walk or few minutes drive from the Park. Patrington has everything customers need and more, from its lovely community feel to one of the most beautiful churches in England. The village has a fantastic array of local shops, cafés and pubs and a restaurant.

Directly from the park are miles of countryside walks or bike rides. Either on small countryside roads, or through walking tracks.

The seaside town of Withernsea is only six miles away with it's huge Blue Flag sandy beach, that has a dog friendly area and a no dogs area. There is a lovely wide promenade to walk along to take in the sea air and the beautiful coastal views. A choice of arcades will keep the children entertained, one having a soft play area and mini bowling inside. There is an inland lighthouse, which is open for visitors to climb the 144 steps and take a look around the museum which gives a history of the seaside town. Valley Gardens is in the centre close to the beach, which hosts various free events throughout the Summer. Shops include traditional seaside shops and an Aldi, Heron and Tesco to stock up on essentials. When you are ready for refreshments, there is a choice of several cafes and pubs that serve food, an Indian restaurant and a choice of takeaways.

Spurn Point, one of Yorkshire Wildlife Trust’s best nature reserves is 10 miles from the park, you can book  a spurn safari for an even bigger adventure! See the links below for information about Spurn Point and the safari’s which can be booked.


Other local beaches include Kilnsea and  Easington which are both dog friendly. Kilnsea has toilets close to the beach. Both have free parking and village pubs close by. 

Another seaside town , Hornsea, is a 30 minute drive away with large beach, shops, pubs, restaurants and more!

The Park is only 25 minutes drive from the city centre of Hull, the UK 2017 City of Culture. Hull is a great city for family days out, with a vast amount of independent and large chain shops and restaurants. Two shopping centres in the city centre, St Stephens and Princes Quay. Several museums that are free to visit, and The Deep which is one of most spectacular aquariums in the world. It is home to magnificent sharks, turtles, penguins and the UK's only Green sawfish. The impressive building overlooks the Humber estuary, The Marina and Fruit Market area has an array of new restaurants and bars, many with the amazing views of the Marina.
